Frequently Asked Questions

We've included a list of FAQs for a wide variety of categories.

How fast does the Brio 740i make ice?

With the ability to produce up to 44 lbs of ice per day, you can enjoy your first batch of soft nugget ice in as little as 10–15 minutes—perfect for entertaining, offices, or everyday use.

What kind of water should I use?

Simply fill the side tank with clean, drinkable water. For best results, use water between 50°F and 70°F to ensure efficient ice production and optimal texture.

What do the indicator lights tell me?

The intuitive display keeps you informed at a glance:

  • Add Water – Time to refill the tank
  • Ice Full – The bin is full and ready to use
  • Power Light – The unit is on and ready

    No guesswork—just simple, smart operation.
How do I start making ice?

Just press and hold the Ice button for 3 seconds to start or stop production. It’s that easy—no complicated setup required.

How do I clean the ice maker?

Cleaning is quick and hassle-free:

  • Wipe the exterior with a soft cloth
  • Rinse the ice bin and drip tray by hand
  • Flush the water tank with fresh water

Routine cleaning helps keep your ice fresh and your machine running smoothly.
How often should I descale the unit?

To keep performance at its best, descale every 2–3 weeks (depending on your water). The built-in self-clean cycle makes the process simple and effective.

What should I do before first use?

Before making your first batch:

  • Let the unit sit upright for about 1 hour
  • Run a quick clean cycle
  • Drain and refill with fresh water

This ensures your ice is clean, fresh, and ready to enjoy.
Why is my unit making a different sound?

Buzzing: When the water pump first turns on, the ice maker will make a buzzing sound. After the ice maker is filled with water, the buzzing will diminish significantly.

Squeaking: When the ice maker needs to be defrosted, you may hear a light squeaking as ice builds up. If the squeaking becomes more frequent, run a clean cycle using citric acid crystals to dissolve mineral deposits. Mineral deposits can cause the ice maker to get stuck in the freeze cycle, which causes frost buildup.

Humming:
The compressor is the motor of the ice maker, and you’ll hear a low, steady humming while it’s running.

Pumping: During the initial start-up, you will hear the pump as it fills the tanks with water.

What should I do if the power indicator is flashing?

The normal ice operation has paused. Unplug the unit for 2 hours, preferably overnight. Re-start the unit and ice production will resume as normal.

Why is my ice production low?

Two Reasons:

1.) Hot air outlet blocked - Ensure at least 6 in. (15 cm) clearance on all sides for ventilation.

2.)Internal water temperature too high - Fill side tank with water between 50°F–70°F (10°C–21°C).
